Description

The OS Champion Stallion!

What a king of the skies! At the licensing of the Oldenburg International (OS) show jumping breeding association, Tobaro demonstrated a superiority in the competition amongst the year’s best horses that can rarely be experienced. “An incredibly smart horse, always focused on his handler and always wants to do everything right. Throughout the loose jumping, he presented himself as very light-footed with a high level of regularity and a lot of scope. If you look at the pedigree, I don’t think it could be more modern”, was the comment of the OS Breeding Director Bernhard Thoben regarding the remarkable Champion Stallion Tobaro.

His sire Tobago Z has set the tone in international show jumping sport. With Daniel Deußer, in the 2022 season alone, he won a five-star show jumping competition in Wellington/USA, took the lead in the Grand Prix of ‘s-Hertogenbosch/NED and Brussels/BEL and was unbeatable in the Global Champions Tour stage of New York/USA and the Super Grand Prix of Prague/CZE. He also came fourth in the World Cup final in Gothenburg/SWE and won team silver at the European Championships in Rotterdam/NED. Internationally, he has produced four licensed stallions. His first offspring are already successful in 1.50m show jumping competitions.

At the beginning of his career, his dam’s sire Converter won 22 show jumping competitions with scores up to 9.0. In 2005, he won the Oldenburg Regional Championships, was placed at the German Championships and was second best show jumping stallion at the World Championships for young horses in Lanaken/BEL. Five of his sons were licensed, including our stallion Conthargos. He has produced over 40 descendants who are successful at advanced (S) level and are led by Crüger, team third of the European Championships with Max Haunhorst, Compagnon/Hans Thorben Rüder and Caja/Martin Sterzenbach.

His grand-dam Andante/Steffen Engfer was placed in 1.35m show jumping competitions. She is the half sister of the Grand Prix dressage horse Raphael (by Rubin Royal) and of Ladylover (by Armitage), who was successful in 1.40m show jumping competitions.

His great-grand-sire Argentinus was a very versatile sire. His offspring include All Star/Denis Lynch/IRL, European Championship team gold medallist, Anka/Marcus Ehning, World Cup Champion, Air Jordan Z/Daniel Deußer, World Cup silver medallist, Asti Spumante/Thomas Mühlbauer, European Team Champion, Arko III/Nick Skelton/GBR, tenth at the Olympics, Adlantus As FRH/Lars Nieberg, team fourth at the World Championships, Banda de Hus/Kevin Staut/FRA and Gregory Wathelet/BEL, and Azarro/Holger Wulschner, amongst others. Argentinus’ offspring are also highly placed in dressage, as prove the European Championship gold medallist Albano/Heike Kemmer, the two-time German Champion Amaretto/Isabell Werth and August der Starke OLD/Victoria Max-Theurer/AUT.

The 1.40m show jumping horse Whitney/Hartwig Jung and the Grand Prix dressage horse Solid Gold/Elizaveta Lyban/RUS also descend from the line of Kriegsburg.

Son of the Vice European Team Champion and Global Champions Tour stage winner Tobago Z/Daniel Deußer
