Manhattan

Description

Manhattan is an offspring of the preferent stallion Burggraaf. Burggraaf is known as a supplier of showjumping horses. Examples of this are the talented showjumpers Burggravin, Dumbo, Jumper and Graaf. Grandsire Abgar is one of the most influential thoroughbreds in Dutch riding horse breeding. Manhattan comes from the performance line of Mr. Huisman in ter Aard. This great line produced the international showjumpers Carrera (by Joost), who won the Grand Prix of Aachen with Jean-Claude Vangeenberghe, but also Valeur D. (by Abgar), who won the Derby of Eindhoven twice with Wout-Jan Van der Schans. But the approved stallion Donau also comes from this line. Dam Utopia is a typical example of a successful cross between a thoroughbred and a Groninger line.

Manhattan became reserve champion of the autumn performance test in Ermelo. Manhattan also became reserve champion of the 1999 Stallion Competition. In 2001 Manhattan achieved several high placings in 1.35m classes, including 2nd HK Den Bosch, 2nd Stallion Show Denekamp and several top three placings in the Twente-Cup qualifications and final. Manhattan was the winner of the 7-year-olds in Etten-Leur at 1.40m. level. Then Manhattan made his international debut in Leeuwarden, which resulted in a 2nd place in the 1.40m class. Furthermore, Manhattan was second in the final of Bremen and 4th and 6th in Barcelona. In 2002, the Manhattan daughter Solita won the Dutch Free Jumping Championship. In 2003 Manhattan has no less than three designated sons at the KWPN stallion inspection. Manhattan’s offspring are loved by both dressage and show jumpers. Two sons of Manhattan have been selected for the KWPN performance test 2004. His son Stetter finished fourth at the World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken (2004).
